We are also going to be using a lot of tasty fruit that absolutely thrives during summer time. There’s nothing better than whipping up a quick summer dish for a party knowing it’s healthy AND delicious.
We love an excuse to celebrate holidays around here, and these red, white, and blue appetizers are the perfect way to celebrate 4th of July coming up.
Today we are using minimal ingredients and keeping it healthy. We love to indulge every now and then, but I try to find healthier ways to incorporate sweetness when I can. Honey and fruit that’s in season are the shining stars today.
I’ve also noticed that everyone’s main focus during the summer is spending time outside with the kiddos, gardening, and being near a body of water. No one wants to slave over a stove. I certainly don’t. My passion this summer has been sharing recipes like this that are simple, no cook appetizers and a great excuse to celebrate 4th of July.
Now, let’s make some festive red, white, and blue appetizers!
Fun Facts About These Simple, No Cook Appetizers
Ingredients on repeat – The ingredients these recipes call for can be used in most if not all the appetizers. How convenient and budget friendly is that?!
Sustainable – We will be using produce that is in season which is a great way to eat sustainably and affordably. I will always be a fan of eating with the seasons. I’ve also incorporated this tip into making my produce last longer in the fridge!
Healthy – The base of these recipes is fruit and greek yogurt sweetened with local honey. This is a great way to indulge your sweet tooth without the guilt.
Simple No Cook Tips For These 4th of July Appetizers
- If you are going to make the popsicles, use the popsicle stick that comes with the mold. I opted out of those to use regular popsicle sticks and it’s not easy to pull those treats out of the molds! Using the plastic sticks the mold comes with might make your life much easier.
- Should you still have a hard time pulling the popsicles out of the molds, run them under warm water and gradually wiggle them out. This will do the trick!
- For the strawberry yogurt bites, the key is to cut up the strawberries and blueberries into smaller pieces. That way everyone will get fruit in every bite.
- To make the greek yogurt mixture, I highly recommend whisking the yogurt until smooth. Otherwise the greek yogurt will be grainy and it won’t freeze evenly.
- If you don’t have star shaped cookie cutters for the watermelon feta salad that’s okay! The red, white, and blue from the fruit and cheese will still keep this salad looking very patriotic.
